Wild Like Children

Ah, Tilly. One of my old favourites. I love this record so much, but itunes informs me I haven’t played it in it’s entirety since January (!?!?).

I had the urge to listen to it yesterday but didn’t get around to it. In another post I was writing about the Whispertown song Restless, and I wrote ‘oh, Restless‘, or something to that effect. It reminded me of the Tilly song Reckless, that goes ‘oh, reckless, a boy wonder so quiet, nose broken…“. Yes. So at that moment I felt the impulse to listen to Tilly.

This is definately my favourite Tilly record. It feels really home-y. I don’t know how to describe it, unless you already know what I’m talking about. It’s like, when you listen to the record, it’s like you’re going home. I don’t think that makes any sense. It’s like an old friend. That makes more sense, I think.

I love Tilly and the Wall alot, I hope whatever they release next is more like this record.

I totes agree. WLC is my favorite, probably followed by Woo! and then the newer ones I go back and forth on. Maybe I’m a purist, but I love back when they fucked it up more, so to speak (i.e. the mic feedback in “Pictures of Houses”)
Anyways, I’m in a similar situation with last.fm. Tilly was my top artist for a long time, but then I so exhausted all their songs, I haven’t felt the need to listen to them for a lonnng time, despite seeing them live 60 zillion times. And I will probably continue to see them 60 zillion more times. Because even their best record has nothing on the live show.

Interesting, so if someone was new listening to their music you’d recommend their first, earlier stuff then?

My friend gave me a copy of ‘o’, but is it worth hunting down a CD of Wild Like Children first then?

@Becca – so if I listen to their stuff and am slightly disappointed by it, should I not be put off seeing them live (if the opportunity arises)?

Seriously, get Wild Like Children. I didn’t like O and I still don’t, which is a shame. But even though I don’t like O, they’re still so fun live. If you don’t like their stuff still go see them live. I like Bottoms of Barrels alot too…
