It had to be done. Look at how his beard is all illuminated. AMAZING.

Thor Harris of Shearwater, more than worthy of his own feature. I’m finally listening to Shearwater now and I am very pleased to be seeing them with Beirut. A number of people have told me that Thor is ‘the nicest man EVER’. I’m not sure if this can be true… I thought Jeffrey Lewis was the nicest man ever. I guess it doesn’t matter… just look at all that hair:

People seem to enjoy this feature, I guess everyone likes to look at beardy men (including beardy men). Matthew Houck is the man behind the band Phosphorescent, whose record Pride I really really enjoy. My Dove, My Lamb is beautiful for it’s whole 9-minute entirety, as are Wolves and At Death, A Proclamation which I also love alot. I think Matthew has potential to have a really epic beard, let’s hope he realizes this and seizes the opportunity. He has some UK dates but no London one. Boo. Listen to him.

As pointed out by The Daily Growl, Bonny ‘Prince’ Billy does have an epic beard. Almost TOO epic. This photo scares me:

The Avett Brothers are very good at facial hair.

I am resurrecting my short lived beard-centric appreciation feature. Mark Hamilton is the man behind Calgary band Woodpigeon. I am truly saddened that I won’t be able to see the band when they head to our shores later this month, but I saw Mark play twice last year and he was brilliant. Listen to Woodpigeon here and marvel at Mark’s beard here:

What was I thinking when I created this feature? Why!? How can you score eyewear? Here is Adam’s bride to be and Illinoisemaker Marla Hansen:

I couldn’t find a picture where the focus was her eyewear. Damn photographers not considering their photos’ future use in my Eyewear Of The Day feature. I can only give her eyewear 7/10. I feel this feature may be discontinued shortly.
I have another snow day tomorrow, my university will be shut, hooray! And I also have Wednesdays off anyway, so, mid week holiday! I’m going to try and do some maths and economics during the daytime which will inevitably lead to me blogging about what I’m listening to while I procrastinate. I’m really excited to see Frida Hyvonen on Thursday, hopefully the snow will clear by then.

Tim ranges from no beard to giant beard. Here he is with a giant beard. 10/10.
I am going to the park. There’s so much snow! How lovely.

Second new feature of the day. I thought I’d start this feature to go along with Beard Of The Day, to justify making a new category on the side bar called ‘Of The Day’, and also so if I can’t think of a beard worthy of praise we can instead admire some fine specs. Eyewear of the day may also include monocles and sunglasses. To start things off, Jaymay:

Jaymay on a train with some very British looking countryside in the background and some Costa coffee. Those glasses look pretty heavy duty and indestructible. 10/10.

There are an abundance of bearded folkies that deserve recognition. I am starting a new feature called Beard Of The Day. Beard of the day may also include mustaches and side burns, but ‘facial hair of the day’ was less snappy. To kick things off, here is beard king, Sam Beam.

Jesus + Marx + Santa Claus + Lion from wizard of Oz + Aslan the lion = Sam Beam. I would rate Sam Beam’s beard 10/10. A beard like that must require quite some maintenance, yet he manages to always look pretty neat and tidy. Listen to Iron and Wine.
